Tuesday 13th July

We left Iki Iki and our home for the past few days and headed to Mbale to pick up Vincent the Branch Co-ordinator for Tororo. After assessing the latest update on Kampala in the New Vision (newspaper) we decided to be smart and have our initial discussion in the jeep whilst assessing the roads for the run...

We met with the volunteers and heard about their arrangements. Even though the branch should teach the community first aid they don't have the resources, so the Run for Humanity project is supporting them to train their trainers who will then educate the community. We also found some quiet, clean and friendly accommodation for the route which is vital after a hard days run.
Bugari was next on our agenda and as we arrived we were met by Margaret (Martin's African Mother who is also the Presidents representive in the area). The plans were described in detail!!! and after a warm meeting we left for Iganga. As we travelled we realised that one or two hills would be tough for us in the heat.....
At Iganga we met with some of the volunteers from last year who explained how much the project helped them move forward last time. As one of the volunteers said "last year we trained 2000 people lets make it even more this time and make a bigger difference". The next stop was Jinja and an overnight stay before the next round of meetings.
