Sunday 11th July

Today we started in Iki Iki with 6am wake up and an early morning 10km (as ordered by Eiyra the lizard). The morning was spent looking at the details of the run and how we can manage the events. I think we now have a a plan but for the next week we will be rushing around the branches and in Kampala to ensure its all in place.

Late morning we visitted Robert Bruce (a great friend of ours) and has been running a community football team we have been supporting over the years. The team keeps young people active and out of trouble and this year Irwell Valley have helped sponsored the kit for them. The football team gives the young people the focus in their lives and they are  also doing very well. Next week this village team will be in a regional competition and the winners will reach the super league (like the premiership in England). Maybe the kit can push them to win and create history!!!!

After lunch we looked at future project for 2011 and supporting to build a community school (more info to follow). We met with Pherry a local MP and discussed local issues and how we can ensure we make an inpacted in the commuity. Tomorrow we travel to the hills of Mount Elgon and the branches we will visit on the run... lets hope we can have a coffee (the best coffee beans come from this area..)..
